Frequently asked questions

Create and run automations locally.

  • Is this a browser extension?

    No. Tranquil Studio is a desktop app with Chromium built in. Each automation is a Deno program running outside the browser, so the browser is one thing it drives, alongside your files and APIs.

  • Why are bookmarks files?

    So they belong to the project, not to one browser. Organize them in folders, commit them with your work, and share with your team.

  • Does the app I want to automate need an API?

    No. Automations can drive the page the way a person does, in your own logged-in session. If you can do it in a browser, you can script it.

  • What are automations written in?

    TypeScript, run by Deno in a sandboxed subprocess. No manifest or build step needed.

  • Can a script do something I did not expect?

    Every script declares what it may touch and is denied everything else. One that declares nothing is refused. You approve once; editing the header asks again.

  • Where does my data go?

    Nowhere. Automations run on your machine in a sandboxed subprocess and write to your own file system. There is no account to create.

  • Can I get it?

    Yes — v0.3.0 is the current developer preview. The consulting practice is there if you want help mapping and shipping your first automation.
